CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Hatha is a collection of physical exercises called postures or asanas (ex: cat/cow, downward facing dog, pigeon).
These postures are designed to strengthen and align your muscles, organs and spine. They focus on your breath, which helps you to stay present.
The majority of the classes offered at Mindful Yoga are Hatha based.

LEVEL 1:            Individuals without yoga experience or anyone interested in a  refresher class. This class builds students' confidence and prepares                                    them for our more experienced classes.
LEVELS 1, 2:    Alignment, breath work and exploration of poses, including use of props. Some yoga experience recommended.
ALL LEVELS:
   Instruction for all : All level classes offer guidance from beginner poses, to advanced variations. You will receive alignment cues,                                        adjustments, a variety of options and opportunities to learn.

Beginning Yoga

Sets a foundation for your practice. Great for beginners to learn basic poses and for those wanting to revisit the fundamentals of their yoga practice.

Hatha Flow – All Levels (some experience recommended)

Vinyasa movements and powerful breath work. Yogic practice at a pace that increases heart rate, heat and stamina.

Functional Yoga - L 1, 2
Through stretching and strengthening, we correct muscle imbalances and improve the flow of breath and vitality. Corrective exercise, hatha yoga and flowing movement.  All levels and strong beginner.

Gentle Hatha  
Perfect for beginners, or even advanced practitioners wishing to slow down, we will use gentle movement to welcome soft openings and mind-body awareness.

Hatha 1- 2
Traditional asanas are held in accurate alignment. Emphasis is placed on core strength, flexibility and balance as well as concentration and breath control. This class is based on physical postures (asanas), deep breathing, mindfulness and listening to the body.

Mellow Flow - All Levels (some experience recommended)
Vinyasa movements. Yogic practice at a pace that increases heart rate, heat and stamina.

Mindful Mellow Stretch L 1-2    Gentle stretches, body awareness, increases strength and flexibility, improves balance.

Mindful Yoga - L1- 2   This class combines the path of meditation, infused into a slow Hatha sequence with some yin yoga seasoning. During the practice gems of dharma are dispersed allowing space toward inquiry.

Qigong This class is for everyone. Meditation in motion, or mindful movement.

Re Chi Yourself Energy Movement - All  Mindful energy movement and meditation practice.

Restorative (All)  Meditative poses in which props support the body in poses held for extended periods, creating an opportunity to calm the nervous system.

Wake Up Yoga - L1-2
Start the day with sun salutations and a smile, and lots of personalized attention in this complete practice. Get up and moving can help increase circulation, help you find balance both mentally and physically, and you may just find your early morning practice energizes you more than that first cup of coffee. Some experience recommended.

Yin Yoga  (All)  A style of yoga that is used to balance more vigorous practices by focusing solely on the stretching aspects of yoga creating a deep stretching experience. Great for athletes and yogis alike looking to increase range of motion. The Yin style targets the muscles and connective tissue of the hips, pelvis, spine and shoulders. Generally done in a variety of seated/floor postures that are held for a duration of 3 to 5 minutes.
